I have seen the white house on many movies and TV programs, and I thought it was really small. The truth is that after going to Washington I realized that the white house was bigger than what I had though and seen on television. I was amazed with the size and how well treated the house and the fields were.

The main purpose of the white house is to shelter the president of the United States. It is located on Washington since it is the capital of the United States of America, and not all elected presidents live in Washington, so they need to move to the capital, and the white house becomes their home. Thatís the reason it was built for, and if the elected president is from Washington, any ways he moves to the white house for more security.

The mansion type was refined Georgian, on a Palladian style building.  The white house was built out of pale grave sandstone, and the apart of being painted in white, the material being used can be one of the reasons why the color of the White House is white. It is a 3 floor mansion and has over 100 rooms in it, some of them secret rooms. This mansion is located on Washington DC on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. This street is closed and only government and police cars can enter the road.

The white house has a quite good interesting history. It has been the home and has shelter the elected presidents of the United States for over 200 years. Something interesting to point out is that George Washington did not live on the white house, he lived in Mount Vernom and the reason he lived there was because the white house was being built. John Adams was the first president to live in the White House. The designer of the mansion was an Irish called James Hobban. The construction began on 1792 and ended on 1800.

In my opinion, the White House is historical for all of the Americans, since is one of the only places where most of the presidents spent time living there.  If I would get to live in the White House I would think It would be spooky because knowing that many people have lived there before makes me feel scared.
