This memorial was one of the best and most impressive memorial I have visit mostly because of his size and its shape. When I saw this building I was amazed by how the people in Washington should love him to make this type of building and then I realized that he made United States a more successful country. The monument was built between 1848 and 1884 as a memorial to George Washington, that was the first president of the United States. The monument was not an action of George Washington, it was made mostly by the congress.

The architect of the monument was Robert Mills with a neoclassic building. In the same place that the Washington Monument is located, there are other 20 statues or monuments of war heroes of the revolutionary war. The monument was stopped by the Civil War in 1858 and thatís why it was finished until 1884.

The location is at the center of the Washington Mall and it was opened to public on October 9, 1888 and dedicated on February 21, 1885. The total cost of the building was $1,187,710  and it was gathered by public funds and federal appropriations.  One thing that impressed me the most was that it was surrounded by 50 flags that represent the 50 states.

I really appreciated this building because it is a very nature place were you have lots of grasslands and you really enjoy it. I think that George Washington really disserved this because he did many good things to the United States starting for making the country independent.
