The purpose of this structure was to do a memorial for George Washington, the first president of the United States.  On this Washington Monument there is an elevator in the inside in which you can go to the top and see the city. The only thing is that if you want to go you have to do a appointment with a day of advantage. This monument is on the capital of the United States because he was the first president who lived on the white house.

This Washington Monument is sand colored Obelisk, the monument is made of marble, granite, and sandstone. This monument is the world’s tallest obelisk and the world’s tallest stone structure. This monument was finished on December 6, of 1884. And was inaugurated the next year on February. This monument is Washington newest attraction. The Washington Monument is made out of two types of blocks cause when they were on the middle or less they realize that the rock cost too much to continue doing it all the way like that. It was built on an obelisk way because this structure was designed by a Greek architecture.

This Monument is the tallest monument on Washington D.C. There is not permitted a building taller than the capitol building but this was an exception cause the law was asked after it was already constructed and because it is not a building it is a monument.

This monument I know I have seen it on movies. That’s one of the reason why it calls my attention a lot. I found interesting that they didn’t knew how much they were going to spend on it until the money was not sufficient that they needed to change of block to continue the structure. The Washington monument you can see it from far away and it is very interesting because it is located at the center of the national mall. When we visited this place I felt happy cause this is one of the monuments that you can´t miss.  What surprised me is that from the top and inside of the monument you can see about 30 miles away. It was a great experience.
